Malaysia's Political Prophecy Fulfilled

Datuk Seri Mohamad Najib Bin Tun Razak has recently took over as the 6th Prime Minister of Malaysia. His ascension completes Malaysia's most intriuging 'political prophecy', known as the RAHMAN Prophecy, where the first letters of the names of the 6 Prime Ministers spells RAHMAN, after the first PM Tunku Abdul Rahman.
.
Apparently the prophecy was first heard as early as the 70s but it was not taken very seriously then. It is only hotly-debated on recently, notably after the sacking of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (then the Deputy Prime Minister, slatted to take over Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as PM).
  • 1st Prime Minister (1957-1970): Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj
  • 2nd Prime Minister (1970-1976): Tun Abdul Razak
  • 3rd Prime Minister (1976-1981): Tun Hussein Bin Dato' Onn
  • 4th Prime Minister (1981-2003): Tun Dr Mahathir Bin Mohamad
  • 5th Prime Minister (2003-2009): Tun Abdullah Bin Haji Ahmad Badawi
  • 6th Prime Minister (2009-Present): Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Razak
The Anwar Factor
.
The most interesting thing about the prophecy is that the 'A' after Mahathir was always believed to be Anwar Ibrahim. Datuk Seri Anwar was Tun Mahathir's protege and deputy, a position that guaranteed him as a successor. After the whole political drama of his arrest and sacking and trial and jail, Abdullah Badawi was 'promoted' as the Mahathir's Deputy PM, and his name too starts with an 'A', making sure the prophecy is intact. Mere coincidence? Clever political manuevering? Prophetised force of nature? But you have to admit, you can't beat that!
.
When Najib Tun Razak became Tun Abdullah's DPM, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that he was to fulfil the RAHMAN last letter prophcy. But excited political watchers then also thought that since there was no guarantee Anwar became PM, there could be no guarantee for Najib too. Others cite that the 'N' could stand for 'Nuar, the short form for Anwar Ibrahim, since he was replaced in the original sequence of the prophecy. Or more outrageously revolutionary, Nurul Izzah, Anwar's daughter, the current Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai.
.
It's Not RAHMAN, but AAHMAM or RRAMAM
.
Some critics of the prophecy has pointed out that the annointing of the letters are misleading. The letters are taken tounge-in-cheek to suit "RAHMAN", because since the first 'R' was taken from 'Abdul Rahman' (second name), then why was the second 'A' taken from 'Abdul Razak' (first name)? And while Najib is typically known as such, he has a 'Mohamad' in his name, making it 'M' instead of 'N'.
.
True Prophecies, or Nepotism?
.
I guess of course prophecies are only as true as the people whom believed in them. But it is definitely very intriuging, for it to happen in real life, especially a stone-cold setting like a political Prime Ministerial succession. Of course we can look at it as a political trend, rather than prophecy, given the many family dynasty miring the political scene.
  • Current PM Najib Tun Razak is the son of Tun Razak, 2nd PM of Malaysia.
  • 3th PM of Malaysia Tun Hussein Bin Dato' Onn is the son of Dato' Sir Onn Jaafar, the founder of UMNO, Malaysia's ruling party.
  • Tun Hussein's son, is Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Bin Tun Hussein, former UMNO Youth Chief and current Minister for Education (future PM too?)
  • 4th PM of Malaysia, Tun Mahathir's son is Dato' Mukriz Mahathir, a Member of Parliament and UMNO Youth Executive Committee member
  • 5th PM of Malaysia, Tun Abdullah Badawi's son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin is the recently-elected UMNO Youth Chief and a Member of Parliament
And may I just add, if you haven't already know: 3rd and present PM of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong is the son of 1st Prime Minister Dato' Lee Kuan Yew (currently Minister Mentor).
.
The ANWAR Prophecy
.
Some has predicted a new prophecy now that the RAHMAN Prophecy is fulfilled. Malaysia is on the brink of revolutionry change should the current Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim gain more support. His coalition has already ended the ruling Barisan Nasional unprecedented two-thirds majority in government.

A: Anwar Ibrahim
N: Nurul Izzah? (Anwar's daughter)
W: Wan Azizah? (Anwar's wife)
A: ?
R: ?

One netizen wrote, "I don't want war". Because after A.N. of the ANWAR prophecy, there's W.A.R. Now that takes it to a whole new level!
